For Strange Women

For Strange Women is an all-female artisan perfume house in the US Midwest, created in 2009.

We source exclusively plant-derived aromatics to create niche botanical perfume. This collection is designed to evoke an experience that is beyond sensory aesthetics; conjuring memories from natural landscapes, objects, and atmospheres remembered deep within the subconscious. The compositions meld with the skin and evolve as each layer reveals itself. The experience is more subtle than synthetic-based perfumes, with fuller nuance.

FSW perfume is intended to serve as a connection to nature and as a sensory ritual. Each is designed to be a mood-enhancing indulgence and source of inspiration. The quality of the raw materials is essential to the process of formulating rare and distinct compositions, especially for the Limited Edition perfumes released on every new moon.

We find distilled essential oils, resins, balsams, absolutes and other plant extracts to be the most satisfying to the senses and artful in their manufacture. These perfumes are beyond natural -- they are the wild and sublime spirits of the earth.

I created For Strange Women in 2009 while working as a designer and photographer. I had secretly been collecting materials and experimenting with formulas for years and was compelled to put all my energy into this as an art project. It became my life. My perfume style is moody, unapologetically earthy, and often focused on comfort. I specialize in natural materials and concepts that strike strange and nostalgic chords.
