MOON MOSS

Salamander tails, strange salves and sprigs of thyme—the woodbound recluse covets a cabinet full of strange remedies ointments to cure all ails and carved, wooden talismans meant to carry in the dark. Clasped between hands of knotted sinew and knobby bone, a small, silver moon sparkles, dangling and dancing from a chain like a chime on the westward wind.

Notes of: dark green fronds in a moonlit glade. Swaying lavender fields, geranium leaf, and swaths of oakmoss. Patchouli leaves hung to cure in the sun, ground herbs, and powdered incense. The barbed, silver underside of sage leaves and rich, fertile soil. A mossy herbal fragrance.

An herbaceous fougère and chypre perfume hybrid with a crisp, clean opening of aromatic herbs and swaying lavender fields, illuminated by moon beams and laid atop the dark, briny, and animalic earthen aromas of patchouli, oakmoss, and ancient resins.

The Ritual: Scoop the desired amount of your scented balm of choice and gently warm it between your fingers before applying it to pulse points (wrists, the crook of the elbow, the nape of the neck, the décolleté) or wherever else you please in gentle, circular motions, allowing the perfume to air-dry.

Solid perfumes perform best when in contact with heat and do wonderfully on warm summer days, or when applied under the collar of a shirt when the temperature drops.
