STAR

July 2026 Edition

A celestial floral amber.

There are perfumes that bloom.

And there are perfumes that burn.

Star belongs to the latter.

Built around an extraordinary in-house extract of Gardenia jasminoides, this edition explores the flower not as a tropical blossom, but as something stranger—white petals suspended in the cold silence of space.

The opening glows with gardenia's luminous flesh: creamy, cool, almost moonlit. Its familiar softness quickly gives way to darker gravity as antique orris butter, botanical musks, aged vanilla, tonquin, balsams, black figs, and resins begin orbiting its radiant center.

Nothing feels rushed.

Everything unfolds with the slow inevitability of a night sky revealing itself.

The July 2026 edition has matured beautifully during its long absence. Months of quiet aging have softened every transition, allowing the floral heart and resinous base to merge into something seamless and expansive. The composition feels less like layers and more like atmosphere.

Star has always occupied a unique place within the Wild Veil collection.

It is simultaneously intimate and immense.

A perfume of ivory petals against infinite darkness.

Of tenderness held inside mystery.

Of childhood wonder meeting the unknowable.

The Feeling

The first star visible before night has fully arrived.

A flower opening where no garden should exist.

White light drifting endlessly through black velvet.

White floral meat. Gardenia jasminoides supernova. A dark eruption that smells like castoreum where there is none. Fig phantoms. A galaxy of incense. Musk per se, iris butter and amber solder to dark star gardenia, a scent like no other's. Orbiting a milky way along black labdanum's saline starlight and blackened brush. Smells like my childhood but dangerous. The solipsistic birth of the universe. Cosmic newborn, a beautiful alien in outer space. Otherworldly dreams, celestial wishes. Aquarius, Saturn, Neptune, Egyptian goddesses Isis (nature and magic) and Nwt (sky). A composition from my own extractions, based in organic alcohol. Color may vary.

Wild Veil natural perfumes are composed by me, Abby, using homemade, wildcrafted and organic aromatics in Vermont. These include my handmade enfleurage, tinctures, enfleurage extraits, absolutes, resinoids and concretes, and floral waxes. I spend as much time growing plants and foraging as I do composing perfumes.

The best way to experience a natural perfume is to apply it to well-moisturized skin, without rubbing in (absorption only shortens the wear time of fragrance) and without scrubbing off. Natural perfumes are dynamic and take a minimum of 2 hours to reach their final stage, or dry down. Enjoy the alchemical changes as they unfold from the initial intensity of top notes, to the warmth of the heart, to the depth of lower base notes.
