1979 Patchouli Ateek

I get a lot of inquiries from Patchouli lovers and Oud Heads looking for really unique batches, and ultimate Patch experiences. If you're one of those kinds of people ... this is next level Patchouli - an Ateek experience like no other !

The aroma is very different from the Patchouli's everyone knows and loves, which tend to be more woody and damp and humid smelling. This vintage solo batch is incredibly unique - easily mistaken for a vintage Oud oil at first whiff. Maybe even the first few whiffs.

The viscosity of this oil is insane. It's thick, like pomagranate molasses on a cold day kinda thick. Age has condensed this oil down to an almost vintage Modena Balsamica goodness.

And the complexity !! This oil is iron-distilled, which is quite hard to find these days, as the industry tends to prefer the lighter oils produced in a stainless steel setup. When I first opened the bottle, the aroma that met my nose was almost as if I had opened a superb bottle of vintage Scotch. The first whiff isn't Peaty, but it's definitely a gentle, Phenolic smokiness. Wafts of delicious smoke flitting through the jungle leaves.

Don't be afraid of it being a little smokey, as it is in the most delightful way, like those first moments a chip hits the heater. The consistency is tar-like, Oudy in its complexity - and yet, almost tea-like in its delicate aromatic caress on my nostrils, in the way that some of my favorite Ouds are tea-like. It's not punchy, like you'll see from fermentation - but it'll definitely throw you a hook and an uppercut right to the schnozz, piercing your brain like a Syrup of the Ancients.

The Oud-like complexity lasts throughout - and it's a few hours into the wear before the oil begins to smell more like what we would expect from a superb Patchouli specimen. The first time I wore it, it was quite some time before it morphed in to something that I could peg as Patchouli. There's a lush, forest'y green'ness to it, almost like a Patchouli Absolute, but way more complex and interesting. I imagine between the age and the density of this oil, the Patchoulol content is through the roof !

I've had many tell me this is hands down THE most unique Patchouli they've ever smelled.

This is isn't just premium stuff. It's Royal. Rich, deep, Oudy and oh-so-good !

The materials that I get are not often found among more commonly accessible aromatherapy suppliers. The quality is in the top 1-3% that is reserved for perfumery use - and the production is often from small artisan operations rather than huge commercial commodity producers. This is a rare treat, from a small batch of aged oil reserved by a small artisan producer.

In Chinese Medicine, Patchouli is known as Huo Xiang, Enters the Spleen and Stomach, Transforms Damp, Expels Summer Heat and Wind / Cold. It is ideal for Damp Environments prone to mold and mildew. Smells damn good, too.

Perfect for compounding your own perfume or aromatherapy blends - and incredible in an aroma diffuser. Wears beautifully on it's own.

**DOES NOT come with a regulator - and may be too thick for Pipettes.

**This is a one-of-a-kind batch, and really really special stuff - be sure to grab some before it's gone !
