We’ve brewed a few rare musk infusions, dunking vintage SQ musk grains into exquisite jasmine and ruh gulab, mitti, and vetiver. And they’re all fantastic.

But when you smell Patchouli Musk it’s like you’ve hit the jackpot, like you ran headfirst into a “why has this been kept from me!?” moment of frustration and bliss when you smell an olfactory match made in heaven.

Once you’ve smelled it, you’ll realize how there’s just nothing you can think of to match the golden earthy tone of great patchouli better than the animalic earthen trufflelicious aroma of very old Tibetan musk grains.

It’s a synergy you can’t beat, like the two share the same origin, as if the patchouli’s lush herbaceous sweetness once upon a time sprouted from a musk pod before they became two separate aromatics a thousand years later.

In the same breath, it’s precisely because alone they are so different that this infusion blossoms all the more. There’s a mint-like cooling effect that comes from the fusion, wafts when you think you smell the musk neat (and you practically do!) yet tinged in patchouli’s ambery glaze. Like patchouli had a total make-over, a musked-out extravaganza that is delicious and just so, so good.

To my knowledge, this is the first infusion of its kind. The way to attain the best possible smell from such an infusion is to use the best patchouli and the finest musk money can buy, and then actively steep the brew for a long time. And that’s what you have here
