Jungle: Timor Island - Indonesia

Distillation: August 2018, Stainless

Wood: Co-distillation of Wild Gynrinops and Filaria into Kupang Sandalwood

Yet another "first" from Rising Phoenix - Introducing Timor L'este 2018!

Timor has long been sought for it's Sandalwood and Agarwood. Taiwanese connoisseurs bought up the last of the area's old stocks of Agarwood. Fortunately - I'm able to get some superb Agar and Sandal bead waste from some of my bead carver connections.

We took a small batch of high grade bead waste and distilled it into a custom-distilled batch of Kupang, Timor Red Meat Sandalwood Oil to produce a distinctly unique oil you likely won't find anywhere else.

Yields from Gyrinops and Filaria are notoriously low as it is. Trying to figure out how to maximize yields and scent spectrum - I set out to produce an old-school attar - taking the low yielding Agarwoods woods and juicing them into a superb batch of Red Meat Sandalwood Oil in order to pick up some stellar notes that would have otherwise been lost.

What we produced was not only unique - but subtle, easy to wear, and like an ocean breeze skirting the jungle.

SCENT

Green and Blue Ocean Water

Humid Jungle

Sparkling, Creamy White Sand

These are a few images that come to mind as I smell Timor L'est. There is a vegetal greeness interplaying with beach'y air. It feels smells like a beach vacay! The Sandalwood holds these notes in an almost tender embrace, the way that soft sand molds to your feet. Just writing this has me craving some Guac and a cervesa!

It's a very clean smelling Attar. No off notes. Nothing sour. No hints of Hindi's or tepid soaks.

I find it almost lingers best on the lapel of my shirt, or rubbed into the stubble on my chin. On skin, it is soft, green and slightly powdery, and if I don't shower right away in the morning - the Oud resin wears on into the second day.

If you're new to Oud, love Sandal, or shy away from stronger smelling Oud Oils - Timor L'est is awaiting you!
