Koh Rong was distilled over four years ago, after we drove across Cambodia over a stretch of months to collect batches of agarwood from different regions, including the famed provinces of Koh Kong and Pursat.

Distilled in Ensar Oud’s own custom-designed distillery in the heart of Cambodia, the goal was simple: extract the daylights out of these batches that took us so long to gather and capture oud that reminds you what gave Cambodian oud its renown.

Enjoy this throw-back to old-school Koh Kong ouds’ raw red aroma, a distinct bitter, ripe-fruit twang (imagine the bite of green apple, minus the sweetness) that’s almost camphoric in how it pierces your nose and goes straight into your head; a medicinal tone only high-caliber wild oud possess.

The medicinal bitter bite stuns the senses right in the opening… a chicory-cherry-persimmon twang so red it screams Koh Kong, yet in a historical dialect few are fortunate to know, but whose reverberations we captured for you in 2017… the faint vibrations… the last remaining echoes of the haunting Koh Kong red that has faded away into olfactory archives and the memories of the Oudept few.

For three quarters of an hour the aromatic tannins evolve from bitter red to dried chicory root to suede before soul soothing red bush tea emerges, and then in an instant, transforms into velvety red mangosteen waves

Customer Reviews:

A Beautiful Cambodian

Initial Impressions: Upon first swipe a deeply medicinal aura wraps your head, you feel alert and caffeinated. There are no funky-ness to this, it is just a deep, medicinal experience with abundance of dried fruits, such as, berries. This oud is not jammy though, it does have dry fruits, that come across as smooth fruitiness. There are florals as well, they bloom within the smooth medicinal quality of this oud, but at the later stages the florals leave a airy-ness to this oud mixed up with a flare of spiciness at the core. The dry down presents a incense aspect, it’s meditative, like if you are at a temple this is what you imagine the aura would be like. The incense is spicy, and compliments the subtle shades of florals, along with the touch of dry fruits.

Overall, a beautiful Cambodian oud, a classic staple in every oud collector’s possession. This was aged for minimum 4 years, so at this price point it’s a must have.

A Smooth Oud

I get a deep rich fruitiness with a very nice medicinal vibe in the opening. This does not come across bitter to me. I would describe it as a smooth oud if that makes any sense. The fruitiness is not dried fruit to my nose but more like ripe dark red cherries. I don’t find the medicinal note in your face but it complements the fruitiness of the opening very nicely.

Blown Away

Koh Rong had blown me away with its medicinal kind of note that goes straight into my brain the first time I sniff it. This is actually my preferred kind of profile in Oud, as I only have experienced this once with an oud that I bought from a local distiller here in Brunei. As for the Green Cambodi, is like its name, ‘green’. That is what I realised the first time I sniff it from the sample bottle, its green and fresh, but still has
